Mayers and Tyndale

Luke Anwari, Network Leader, is known by the international religious freedom community as one of the most prominent and recognizable Afghan Christian leaders in the region. After converting to Christianity, Luke shared his Christian faith widely and saw many conversions to Christianity, eventually creating a movement and later an organization called the Afghan House Church Network. Because of his public work, Luke was imprisoned in Afghanistan in August 2010 and received numerous threats to his life and the lives of his family. Luke eventually had to leave Afghanistan because of the intensity of the persecution against him. He now resides in Canada. He has remained a prominent voice for religious freedom even from Canada. He trains and supports Christian leaders in the increasingly large Afghan house church network, has translated Christian books and materials into Dari, and he maintains a strong online presence for Afghan Christians and Afghans inquiring about the Christian faith. Since the Taliban took control of the Afghan government, Luke has also worked to provide aid and support to Christians remaining in country.
